April is Sexual Violence Prevention Month, and we encourage all of you to use your voice to speak up about prevention! The impact of sexual violence touches us all. We are each part of the movement to end sexual violence in Minnesota by changing the norms that support violence to norms of respect, gender equity, and justice. In addition to the Sexual Violence Prevention Program website, check out these resources from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and the Minnesota Office of Higher Education to use this month.
We encourage you to use social media to spread the word about prevention. Here are some taglines you can use along with the national #SAAM hashtag and Minnesota’s #NotME #NotYOU #NotUS hashtags to talk about prevention:
- Sexual violence is not inevitable, it is preventable. #SAAM #NotME #NotYOU #NotUS
- We all have a role to play in preventing sexual violence. I help prevent violence in my community by supporting safe, supportive, and equitable environments. #SAAM #NotME #NotYOU #NotUS
- Use your voice to speak up about preventing sexual violence with your friends and family, at your workplace, and in your community. #SAAM #NotME #NotYOU #NotUS
- Challenge rape culture with respect, gender equity, and community support. #SAAM #NotME #NotYOU #NotUS
