I am blessed and humbled that the Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD) appointed me Executive Director. It is the opportunity of a lifetime to be able to serve all of you. I want you to feel that you have a voice in this Council, in decision-making, and in policy development work. I am committed to having open channels of communication with all of you. This is your Council. Your Council to advocate for change, to educate our government leaders on access and legal obligations, and to provide an opportunity for people from all disabilities to come together, have their voices heard, and work together to make meaningful change for the people of Minnesota.
I am looking forward to essential engagement with you, to include your voices in this organization, and to find ways we can grow collaborations with you. I am excited about the future at MCD. Politics, whether system change or policy change, is a game of numbers. The bigger we are, the more impact we can make on the systems that create or perpetuate barriers in the lives of people with disabilities. So, we need each and every one of us to participate in this process, to work together, to help MCD get closer to the vision of a better and barrier-free Minnesota for people with disabilities.
Thank you,
David Dively
