The Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD) has learned that an article we published in our October newsletter contained incorrect information about the Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD) program. We offer the following clarifications.
MA-EPD will not reduce your Medical Assistance (MA) premiums. Medical Assistance is free in most situations. While MA-EPD does have premiums, MA typically does not.
MA-EPD income and asset limits have not yet been lifted. The law enabling Minnesota to lift MA-EPD income and asset limits went into effect on July 1, 2023. However, the federal government must approve these changes before they can take effect. We expect changes to income and asset limits will occur in early 2024.
If you have questions about the 2023 changes to MA-EPD, email Trevor Turner, Public Policy Director.

Follow MCD for updates. We will publish new technical information for MA-EPD when the changes take effect.
