To help millions of people recognize what they can do to make a difference in the lives–and future careers–of young people with disabilities, the U.S. Department of Labor’s and the US Business Leadership Network’s strategic partner, the Campaign for Disability Employment has released a new video public service announcement titled “Because.” The PSA features real people with disabilities who are pursuing and realizing their goals and passions as a result of the support they received from everyday people in their lives.

Sign up now to join The Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (MN-CCD) for a panel where state and legislative leaders will discuss the status of health care in Minnesota, the challenges we face in health and long term care reform, as well as solutions for the future. The panelists will include Health and Human Services leaders from the House and Senate, as well as experts from Department of Human Services.
Olmstead Planning Committee Final Recommendations
On October 22, the Olmstead Planning Committee issued its report titled “The Promise of Olmstead: Recommendations of the Olmstead Planning Committee.” On December 1, 2011, the Jensen Lawsuit (METO) was settled in Judge Donovan Frank’s federal district court. One of the stipulations of the settlement was that the state of Minnesota needed to write an Olmstead Plan that would address how Minnesota was going to address the desires of individuals with disabilities living in institutions to live in the community.
