Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) are accessible to all Minnesotans. The DNR provides several programs for individuals with disabilities including special hunts, accessible hunting stands, and wildlife viewing platforms. WMAs are generally closed to motorized travel but the DNR, through their area wildlife managers, are committed to working closely with individuals with mobility disabilities to gain motorized accommodations to over 1,400 WMAs.

Thank you to everyone who followed along with our virtual celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). MCD is committed to continuing this conversation. We provide training, technical assistance and work with our partners to develop public policy that upholds this landmark civil rights law.

Thanks to the ADA, people with disabilities can live in the communities and homes they choose, with access to the care they need.

Thanks to the ADA, people with disabilities are ensured independence and mobility, through the use of service animals.

If it wasn’t for disability parking a portion of the disability community would not be able to leave their house to buy food and participate in many other aspects of our society. It is not a convenience to have disability parking; it is a necessity and a civil right that was afforded to people with disabilities only 30 years ago.

Thanks to the ADA, people with disabilities are able to enjoy access to buildings and places that were previously inaccessible to them, improving their quality of life and levels of independence.
